The United Territories of The Sovereign Nation of The People's Republic of Slowjamastan is found in the California desert along California Highway 78, between the American cities of Ocotillo Wells and Westmoreland. It is ruled by Sultan Randy Williams,who is also the host of the syndicated radio program, “Sunday Night Slow Jams”. There is no official harper, so I have taken it upon myself to perform the Slowjamistan National Anthem. So here it is, performed by the Danster Quartet Minus One (plus another one), and featuring the SlowjamasDan-cers.

The SlowjamaDans are back, this time with a tribute to Slowjamastan’s (dry but mighty) Lazy River, a slow jam. Slowjamastan is a micro-nation in the California desert. It’s national animal is the ring tailed raccoon. It boasts the Lazy River that is so very lazy that it rarely bothers to have any water.  Hoagy Carmichael and Sidney Arodin wrote “Lazy River”in 1930, almost a century before the Lazy River was a twinkle in the exalted Sultan of Slowjamastan’s eye. The song was way ahead of its time! So here’s a little desert harp rendition.
