Before Bill Murray, there was Billy Murray, (the “Denver Nightengale”), a comedian/songwriter/recording artist - recording on wax cylinders - popular through the 1920s. “Ever Since you Told Me that You Love Me” is one of his lesser known songs. In 1968 Tiny Tim released a version of the song on his album, “God Bless Tiny Tim”, with reworked words. I’m not THAT much of a nut, so I went back to the Murray lyrics for this video. “Ever Since You Told Me That You Loved Me” is on my “Harps In Space” album

I've got to see the doctor
I've got to see the doctor
'Cause there's something wrong with me
What can it be?
What can it be?
I know it isn't indigestion
It isn't indigestion
It is just my poor old brain
It feels so queer
Since you are near, dear!
Ever since you told me that you loved me
I'm a nut, I'm a nut!
Ever since we had that first sweet hug
I'm a bug, I'm a bug!
I can't touch a bite to eat
Something's wrong with both my feet
I bump into people on the street like a fool
Like a fool, like a fool
Ever since you said you'd like to kiss me
I'm a nut, I'm a nut!
Darling, I'm as daffy as can be
Oh, can't you see?
I lie awake a-thinking ‘till the dawn begins to peak
The doctors gave me something but I'm hanged if I can sleep
Ever since you told me that you loved me!
The doctor looked excited
And not at all delighted
Then he wrinkled up his face, saying
What a case
A very strange case.
We mustn’t let this trouble beat us
Because it’s girly-eetus
Have you women on the brain?
I said in fun
Yes, Doc, just one
My lovin’ hun
Ever since she told me that she loved me
Hide the squirrels, I'm a nut!
Ever since we had that first sweet hug
I'm a bug, I'm a bug!
I can't touch a bite to eat
Something's wrong with both my feet
I bump into people on the street like a fool
Like a fool, like a fool
Ever said she said she like to kiss me
I'm a nut, I'm a nut!
Darling, I'm as daffy as can be
Oh, can't you see?
Say, doctor, she’s succumbing and she’s made an awful hit
Now my little derby hat will never, never fit
Ever since she told me that she loved me!
